So here, we'll look at 3 different types of heat transfer vinyl to get an idea of what you can expect to pay, based on these three examples:

a - Standard Heat Transfer Vinyl:

Standard heat transfer vinyl is a completely basic solid-color vinyl with no special features.

Solid-color heat transfer vinyl is very popular with clothing brands (like ZARA, Pull and Bear...) as well as customization companies. ✅

b - Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl

2 - Heat Transfer Vinyl Price: What a Design Costs Based on Logo Size:

This part is key, because the price of a vinyl design depends mainly on the size of the design you're cutting. And you'll see that the price difference between a small design and a large one is nothing to sneeze at!

So we'll compare prices using 2 different logo sizes:

▪️ Large logos measure 30cm x 30cm

▪️ Small logos measure 8cm x 8cm.

For these examples, we're using standard heat transfer vinyl at 9€ for 30 cm x 2 meters.

a - Large Logo

As we mentioned earlier, the price of standard vinyl is 9€ for 30cm x 200cm. On a roll this size, you can make 6 large logos.

Divide 9 by 6, and you get 1.5€ per large logo.

So you can expect each large logo you make and press onto a T-shirt to cost you around 1.5€.

b - Small Logo

For small logos, you can usually fit 3 across the width of a roll and about 24 down its length, so you can make a total of 3x24, or 72 logos.

9/72 =0.125 The price of a vinyl design measuring 8cm x 8cm is less than 13 cents.

So you'll only pay about 13 cents per logo when you make small designs.

Tips and tricks: These are quick calculations that don't necessarily reflect every real-world detail. For example, after making 6 large logos on a roll, you can still use it to make about ten small logos, which can save you a few euros.

Also, keep in mind that you may run into problems while making a logo and have to start over, which adds to the cost of that logo.

5 - What Tools and Machines Do You Need to Make High-Quality Heat Transfer Vinyl Designs?

To use heat transfer vinyl on fabric, you'll need 3 essential products:

a - Heat Transfer Vinyl

Heat transfer vinyl is the material you'll work with to reproduce your design in vinyl.

b - A Cutting Machine

A cutting machine lets you cut the heat transfer vinyl into the shape of your logo. The best-known cutting machines on the market are:

• The Silhouette Cameo
• The Cricut Maker.

These machines cost around 300€.

c - An Iron

Once your logo is ready, all you have to do is iron it onto your fabric so the vinyl adheres properly.

You can also use a heat press, which is a more professional tool. These days, you can find them at a good entry-level price (around 300 euros)

That said, keep in mind that you don't need a heat press when you're just starting out.
